What we clean
Your home’s ductwork carries air between the rooms and your heating and cooling system. Dust and loose debris can collect inside it. Kepsten cleans the accessible ductwork connected to your home’s individual forced-air system.
Supply and return ducts

Supply ducts carry conditioned air into your rooms. Return ducts carry it back to the furnace or air handler. We loosen and remove dust and debris from the accessible sections of both, using agitation and vacuum extraction.
Vents and register covers
Dust settles around the openings where air enters and leaves a room. The standard package includes cleaning the accessible vent and register covers. Cleaning deeper into the vent boot, the section directly behind each opening, is an optional add-on.
Systems covered
Each package covers one furnace or air handler. If your property has more than one furnace system or shared ductwork, tell Kepsten before you book. Additional systems may need a separate assessment and extra charges.
Standard duct cleaning does not include cleaning HVAC, furnace or AC machinery. Some component cleaning is available separately as add-ons.
What’s included in Air Duct Cleaning
Every standard Home Air Duct Cleaning package includes:
- Cleaning of accessible supply and return ducts, including main duct lines, by agitation and vacuum extraction
- Cleaning of accessible vent and register covers
- Coverage for one furnace or air handler within your home-size package
- Free labour to replace an accessible, user-replaceable furnace filter, if you supply the correct compatible filter
We don’t supply furnace filters. Whether we can replace yours depends on safe access, the manufacturer’s instructions and what the technician is permitted to do. You don’t need to buy any add-ons to get the cleaning included in your package.

What can change the final price
Your home-size package sets the starting price. Additional furnace systems, optional services or work outside your booked package may cost extra. Kepsten will explain the scope and price and get your approval before any additional paid work begins.
Signs your ducts may need cleaning

Not every home needs cleaning at the same time, but some conditions are worth checking.
Dust around vents: Dust around supply and return openings that returns quickly after you wipe it is a reason to inspect the system.
Debris inside the ducts: Significant dust, dirt or loose debris in accessible ducts can justify professional cleaning.
Odours from the vents: An unusual smell may point to a problem that needs investigating. Duct cleaning removes accessible debris but can’t guarantee the odour goes away, since the source may need separate attention.
Dust after renovations: Construction dust can get into ductwork, especially when vents are left uncovered during the work. If a lot of debris has entered the system, consider an inspection before booking a cleaning.
Signs of pests: Evidence of rodents or insects in the ductwork should be investigated. Pest removal and remediation are separate services and are not part of Kepsten’s standard package.
How the cleaning works
The process follows your selected package, the condition of your ducts and the areas we can safely reach.
- System review: Your technician reviews the system, the access conditions and the services in your booking. If extra furnace systems, restricted access or other conditions could affect the job, they’ll discuss it with you before cleaning begins.
- Preparing the work area: The technician checks access to the equipment, vents and ductwork. Please keep work areas accessible and move fragile belongings away from nearby surfaces.
- Cleaning the ducts: The technician cleans accessible supply and return ducts, including main duct lines, by agitation and vacuum extraction, loosening and removing accumulated dust and debris.
- Cleaning vent and register covers: Accessible covers are cleaned as part of the standard package. Vent boot brushing is done only if you add it.
- Finishing the job: The technician completes the cleaning within your agreed package scope. If inaccessible areas or unexpected conditions stop part of the work, they’ll explain what happened. Any additional paid work needs your approval through Kepsten first.
What duct cleaning does
Professional duct cleaning removes accumulated dust and debris from the accessible parts of your home’s ventilation system. It’s most useful when a lot of debris has collected inside the supply and return ducts, or when construction dust has entered the system during renovations. Before cleaning begins, your technician reviews the system and explains any access limits that could affect the booked service.
Duct cleaning does not guarantee allergy relief, a dust-free home, better energy efficiency or complete odour removal.
When to consider cleaning
Running your heating and cooling system doesn’t mean your ducts need cleaning every year, and no fixed schedule fits every home. Look at the condition of your ductwork and whether you have a specific reason. Professional inspection or cleaning may make sense:
- After renovations that put a lot of debris in the ducts
- When you can see significant dust or dirt inside accessible ductwork
- After a pest problem has been properly dealt with
- When you move into a previously occupied home with an unknown maintenance history
- When an inspection finds buildup that needs removing
Regular household cleaning and replacing your furnace filter on its recommended schedule also matter.

Preparing for your appointment
A little preparation helps the technician reach everything without delays. Before your appointment:
- Clear access to vents, registers and equipment.
- Arrange parking for the technician.
- Keep pets away from work areas.
- Move fragile belongings away from vents and nearby surfaces.
- Tell Kepsten about additional furnace systems or shared ductwork.
- Tell us about known damage, suspected mould, pest activity or access restrictions.
- Have the correct compatible furnace filter ready if you’d like it replaced.
If the technician can’t complete the visit
A $79 visit fee applies when the technician arrives for a confirmed appointment but can’t proceed because:
- You aren’t available.
- You haven’t provided the access you were told to arrange in advance.
- You cancel the booked service onsite.
The fee covers the technician’s attendance, travel and dispatch. When no cleaning is done, it replaces the cleaning charge and isn’t combined with another cancellation fee for the same visit.
The fee does not apply to technician no-shows, missing equipment, conditions disclosed before booking confirmation, Kepsten’s inability to deliver the agreed service, or your decision to decline optional extras. We review unexpected access or safety issues before charging any fee.
